Knez 'Personal Builders' Receive Residential Construction Superintendent (RCS) Designation

Knez Homes is pleased to announce that each of our Personal Builders have recently received the "Residential Construction Specialist" designation from the Home Builders Institute.

The Residential Construction Academy (RCA) is a Home Builders Institute (HBI) initiative established in 2001 that aims to bridge the critical skills gap that exists within the residential construction industry.

Joshua Edgell, Mark Maltry, David Franz and Michael Dragar are the only supervisors in Northeast Ohio who have achieved the RCS designation.

The Residential Construction Academy is charged with developing educational materials and programs based importantly on national standards developed by HBI and National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) member employees. The goal of such programming is to help shape a workforce that is skilled, knowledgeable and able to meet the needs of NAHB members today and well into the future.

Knez Homes is dedicated to continuing education initiatives.

We'd like to thank all of the people who stopped by the Knez Booth at the Home & Garden Show to sign the card welcoming Coach Crennel to Cleveland.

The card was designed by local artist, Catlin Wise, who graciously donated her time and her talents. Ms. Wise specializes in home renderings, portraits of humans and animals, business logo designs and murals.

The company and our employees have matched the proceeds that were raised at the booth and have made a $200 donation to the Painesville Area Habitat for Humanity.

B.R. Knez Construction, Inc. has been named 2004 Builder of the Year by the Home Builders Association of Greater Cleveland.

"The Builder of the Year Award is one of the highest awards bestowed upon an HBA builder-member. Bo Knez joins a long list of distinguished building professionals who have received this award over the decades. His dedication and service to the industry has merited this fine recognition," says Nate Coffman, Executive Director of the Home Builders Association of Greater Cleveland.

Knez serves Lake, Geauga and eastern Cuyahoga County. The company has been in business since 1988. Knez has recently been recognized as one of the "Lake Geauga Fast Track 50".

The Home Builders Association of Greater Cleveland is a nonprofit organization founded in 1943 dedicated to the promotion, advancement and professionalism of the building industry and associated industries.

The HBA of Cleveland and it's leaders were instrumental in the formation of both the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) in 1942 and the Ohio Home Builders Association (OHBA) in 1944 and that leadership on the state and national levels still continues today.

Knez Unveils New Perry Twp. Facility

Knez Homes has moved into a brand new facility located at 3375 Blackmore Road in Perry Township.  Local government and business officials were on hand for the ribbon cutting ceremonies welcoming Knez to this east side community. The ceremony was coordinated by the Madison-Perry Area Chamber of Commerce.

Knez Receives Conservation Award
October 14, 2004
Lake County Soil and Water Conservation District has recognized B.R. Knez Construction, Inc. for "Outstanding Conversation Efforts".

Knez was presented an award on October 7th in recognition of the company's homebuilder erosion and sediment control during the construction process.

"Builders and developers are acutely aware of the impact that we have in our communities. We not only build here but our families live here as well," says Bo Knez, President. "By doing our part to take care of the environment, we make it a better place for everyone to live."

"We strongly believe that it is possible to balance progress while minimally impacting the environment. In many instances, we can actually improve the conditions of our watershed systems by reversing or repairing damage that was caused in the past," says Knez.

Knez is currently involved in developing "the Reserve at Stone Creek" in Kirtland. The company is working with the Ohio EPA, Lake County Soil & Water Conservation District and with an environmental consultant to improve a Class One stream on the property. Their efforts include removing asphalt, concrete and other discarded rubbish. The company is also installing boulders, planting vegetation and utilizing natural materials in order control erosion and help assist the creek reestablish itself.

"This effort has significantly delayed the project but the results of restoring the natural beauty of the riparian corridor not only benefits the homeowners in our development but also those in the Chagrin River Watershed as a whole," says Knez.

"A common misconception about our industry is that we don't care about the environment. On the contrary, we take great care to balance environmental concerns while fulfilling the need for new housing in Lake County," says Ante F. Logarusic, VP, Sales & Marketing.

Knez is the sole homebuilder recognized for this award.
